This is a Thursday series in which I pause and acknowledge something big and important or something small and insignificant that has made me thankful. It is so important and incredibly refreshing to look at the positivity around us, when we are so often surrounded by negativity.
Something I'm extra thankful for this week is our local food co-op. Donnie and I can't do all of our shopping there, but it is the place we go for most of our staples (grains, tofu, dairy) and it's the biggest treat in the world to go there. This week, we are celebrating the grand opening of the new store and the giant expansion accomplished. It's a big deal, and I can't seem to stop hanging out there this week.
The Common Ground Food Coooperative is a place full of good energy and really solid people. Everyone who works there is someone I want to be friends with. One of my dearest friends holds an instrumental role there, and I couldn't be more proud of the work she's already done. It's just really great. And if you come visit me, I will take you there on a field trip. We can have coffee in the new coffee bar, or eat freshly made pizza or sandwiches from the cafe. Or even just peruse the bulk bins. I'm serious. It's just that good.
We're going to the co-op tomorrow for Valentine's Day. It's Owner Appreciation Day (woo extra 10% off!) but it's also just ... exactly where I want to be with Donnie, on a night that we are celebrating life and thinking a little extra about people we care about. I personally love Valentine's Day because it is such a glorious chance to pause and think about all the people we love. I had big plans to send Valentines out to my friends this year, but time has once again gotten away from me. Maybe I'll still send them. Maybe I'll send them in March. There's never a wrong time to tell someone you love them, I think.
I hope you all have wonderful Valentine's Days. I know I'll personally be eating a pizza from the co-op kitchen to celebrate -- what do you plan to do?
