Love and Community || Champaign-Urbana Portrait Photographer

Tonight, Donnie and I went to the Common Ground Food Co-op (again, like we have basically every night this week) to celebrate the opening of a teaching kitchen and community space that is a wonderful new part of the co-op. We saw friends, old and new, indulged in champagne, ate yummy local vegetables in amazing hummus... It was all such a treat. But my favorite part of the evening was when we, as a community, made a group promise to further the mission of the classroom, and to continue to build and share community together in the space, in our town. There's something incredibly powerful about that. And after the dedication was finished, I turned to Donnie with tears in my eyes and told him that it reminded me, in some small way, of our wedding.

Donnie and I, with the help of our wonderful lovely amazing officiant, Sam, crafted our wedding ceremony together. One of my favorite parts was when the people who attended the ceremony read aloud a paragraph of the commitment they were making back to us, both in friendship and support. They were with us, witnessing the beginning of a new stage of our relationship; just like tonight, when we witnessed a wonderful beginning at the co-op.

There is something immensely powerful about having a shared experience with one's community. I am so incredibly fortunate to weave in and out of the lives of so many important and beautiful people.

I feel like I'm floating on life right now. I'm working harder than ever, but I couldn't be happier. This weekend, I shot another Fancy Lady Boudoir session. Every session that I shoot reaffirms the fact that this is what I'm supposed to be doing. And though I can't sneak preview any of the photos from the weekend, I can share a glimpse of what we were working with!
