On Friday, I had the privilege of assisting Stephanie Pease (who doesn't have a website, or else I'd be linking to it!) to photograph Tracy and DeShawn's wedding. And oh my goodness, I couldn't have been luckier to be a part of this day. The couple planned every detail to perfection -- the peacock feather motif was carried throughout the day without ever being over the top. (I had toyed with the idea of using peacock colors for our wedding, so it was almost like seeing a different dream wedding of ours played out, which I obviously loved...) Tracy made peacock feather shoe clips for each of her bridesmaids; the flower girls had gorgeous feathers on the backs of their dresses; and Tracy wore some of the hottest shoes I think I've ever seen. It just worked. It was stunning. But more than the perfectly planned details and decorations, the overriding theme of this day was love. Tracy and DeShawn both have incredibly loving, kind, and sassy families. When I helped a grandmother pin on her boutonniere, she started hollering like I had stuck her with the pin, and then she looked up at me and winked. I hadn't hurt her at all. ;) These are my kind of people, who bring joy to every situation even when it's a busy day.
The couple got ready separately in different rooms of the Champaign Church of Christ, had their ceremony in the gorgeous chapel with the most beautiful stained glass window. Once the ceremony was over, they had a bubble-filled exit out to a trolley which took them to the reception location, the iHotel. What an amazing venue it is -- I loved the purple tones in the room. The entire day was a perfect tribute to the love that Tracy and DeShawn share, and I couldn't have been more thrilled to be a part of it.
Hope you're enjoying married life, Tracy and DeShawn. Thank you again for letting me be a part of your day!! xoxo
